In accordance with the requirements of the Quarries Regulations (1999) and accompanying Approved Code of Practice, quarry companies are required to carry out regular safety inspections of the excavated quarry faces and waste tips and to prepare a Geotechnical Assessment at least every two years.
- Site Inspection – Normally a walk-over inspection of the site and geological mapping of the quarry faces by one of our trained geologists. Our staff are also trained in rope access (abseil) techniques allowing effective rock face inspection in areas of limited access.
- Data Analysis using Software – Our computer software aids rapid processing of geological data and slope stability analysis.
- Reporting – Information from the site inspection and data analysis is compiled into a concise Geotechnical Assessment Report which includes recommendations to reduce the risks from any identified significant hazards.
